The classic layout of the Hood Arms, dates back to the 17th century, when weary London travelers arrived finally at their coaching destination - to be greeted by the warmth of welcome, food and fireside that awaited at this famous hostelry.
John & Nicky Thompson, the owners have strengthened and built on this reputation for provision of welcome, comfort, and fun.
There was an Inn at Kilve in 1689 originally called the Chough & Anchor. By 1832 it was named the Hood Arms. The pub was flourishing and stables added for the coaching trade on the toll road. Kilve was the centre of smuggling, with Brandy and illicit goods stored the Chantry situated behind the Hood Arms in Sea Lane.
